We are having our second child in a few months. My oldest turns four in September. At this point I am opting not to spend the money on a double stroller. My logic is that the baby will be small enough this summer to wear in a sling or front carrier. By next year when it's nice enough, my daughter will be 4 1/2. I am assuming that if I am places that require a lot of walking, where my daughter might get tired, like the zoo or something, that it would be a family event and my husband would be with me. Therefore we could just take the regular stroller and an umbrella stroller which we already have.
So there, that is my logic. If you disagree though, and you loved having a double stroller, or it's something you couldn't live without, then tell me! And if that's the case, what kind of stroller do you have that you love?

My kids are only 14 months apart so I went with a Sit N Stand. I love it. I just got it this past summer. The older one can walk or sit .... or stand. The younger one still sits in the front. I like it better than a double for non twin kids.
We also got a Sit 'n Stand but my kids have the same age difference that yours will have, and we hardly used it at all. I just used the carrier during the summer and that worked great.
I'm getting a Joovy Caboose which is a sit and stand. It is a very small sit and stand, no longer than most single strollers. It is not awkward to push with just one child in it, but it has the little bench in the back which Cecelia loves to sit in when she gets tired. (I have used my friend's a few times to be sure it is what I really want)
I got a double jogging stroller when Kennedy was born. I loved it and still use it, but my kids are only 20 months apart. I mainly just use it for exercising though, and evening strolls down by the lake. It fits in out trunk, but not much else does. So we don't take it places unless we will be walking a ton (like the zoo).
I would wait and see. I never got a double stroller with two kids. Our walks usually consisted of D in the stroller and V on a bike. When D was a baby, she didn't like car seats or strollers so she was in our Bjorn and V was in the stroller. One time we thought we should buy one before going to the zoo and I ended up pushing around an empty single stroller the entire time so I was pretty glad that I didn't have an empty double. If you can find a good one now on Craigslist or something, it might be worth it just in case. But in our situation, I was glad I waited to see what my girls really needed.
I am, however, highly considering getting a double stroller now with 3 kids and was just recommended to get a sit and stand DELUXE by a mom who has owned four different double strollers. I just think it will be good for the logistics of going through a parking lot and stuff.
I love my Sit and Stand Silverado. It is the kind that has two seats but the back seat can be removed to have the sit and stand part. It is great because my son who is 3 can jump on and off as needed when he is tired or energetic. Perfect for the zoo and other outings. I love it. It is also great because when I am with my friend her 5 year old and Cedric can both ride on it with Katelyn in the front. Her 5 year old is about the size of a 7 year old so that is pretty good. I figure we will be able to use our stroller for a LOT longer than most double strollers.
I did not get a double stoller until we had our 3rd child. However, my first 3 childs were all pretty close in age. Personally, when I got my double I loved it and still do (I don't use it to much right now because my youngest is now almost 2 and we use the umbrella if we need a stroller). One of the reasons I wanted one so bad was because I like to be able to attach my infant carseat to it when they are baby babies. The front carrier is great, but I always hated to wake the baby up if they were asleep in the carseat. The Double stoller that I have is a Graco Duo glider and I also have a double jogging stoller, but I don't take that with me in the car.
