Basics

1. What is your age and physical description? I am 26, 5' 10", brown hair and brown eyes. (I've secretly always been jealous of blue-eyed people)

2. Where were you born and where are you now? I was born in Naperville, IL and now I live in a little town near Seattle, WA and we're moving to Provo this summer for my hubby to get his MBA.

3. What do you do for a living? I am a mother! :) I taught 2nd grade for a year and plan to go back to doing that once my kiddos are in school. I would like to start a "learning to read" class from home one of these days, I just need to get the gumption to go for it and do it.

4. What is your favorite and least favorite color? Favorite: blue, Least favorite: ? I like most colors.

5. Did you go to college and get a degree, If so, where & what? I went to BYU (Go Cougars!) and got my BS in Elementary Education.

6. How many children do you have? How old are they? I have two beautiful little girls. Megan is 2 1/2 and Emily is 7 months.

7. What’s your favorite and least favorite food? Favorite: apples, spaghetti, most fresh fruit, Quaker Oatmeal Squares, and Chipotle burritos. Least favorite: tomatoes (I like them cooked, but not raw), brussell sprouts, and olives

8. Are you right or left handed? right

9. Do you play any instruments? I wish. I took piano for a long time and never practiced and so I can't play well at all. Someday I'm going to buy a piano and take lessons again! I like to sing though.

10. What are your hobbies? I love to read, play board games (the German ones), go on hikes, go on bike rides, dance (I can't dance well, but I like to do it), and take naps (when I can...is that a hobby?)

11. What did you want to be when you grew up? A mom, a teacher, or an actress/model

12. What is your biggest fear? I am constantly worrying about something happening to my husband or my children....or me. As shallow as it sounds, I often worry that I'll die and then my husband will get remarried (which I would want him to) but then my kids will forget me and love their new mom better. Good thing I have the gospel and know that everything will work out like its supposed to no matter what happens...and I'll be happy no matter what. That doesn't stop me from worrying though....

13. Who has touched your life and influenced you the most and why? Probably my firstborn daughter. My life completely changed when she was born and I have grown so much since then. Plus she's constantly teaching me new things every day. Being a mom really taught me how much Heavenly Father loves His children and how much I need to rely on Him and trust in Him.

14. If you could accomplish just one thing with your life, what would that be and why? To teach my children how to obtain their own testimonies and to build and strengthen that testimony every day of their lives. I would love to have my whole family in the temple together someday.

15. What is your worst habit and if you could quit it, would you? My worst habit is probably my love for sleep. It tends to make me lazy during naptimes... I probably should quit. I'm currently working on it.

16. Who would play you in the movie of your life? Who would play your husband? I know its been said before by other people, but I think Sandra Bullock would play me pretty well. I feel like I can relate to certain characters she's played and I've been told before that I look like her. I just asked my husband who would play him and he said, "Based on looks alone: Brad Pitt. Just kidding...I would probably be played by Screech." So..there you have it.

17. What songs would make up the soundtrack of your life and why? This is the question that I was most excited for b/c I constantly think about stuff like this. (I'm sort of crazy about music...) I actually made a soundtrack of my life in college b/c I thought it would be fun. So, sorry, but I'm actually listing a bunch of songs. :)
"Baby Mine" from Dumbo b/c its my daughter's song, "Snuggle Puppy" by Sandra Boynton b/c its my other daughter's song, the Jem theme song b/c I wanted to be Jem when I grew up, the Book Report on Peter Rabbit song from "You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown" to represent my school days, "Have You Ever?" by Brandy to represent my emotional/drama-filled teenage years, any Backstreet Boys song b/c I was obsessed, "You're the Inspiration" by Chicago b/c my husband sang that to me when he proposed, "Come What May" from Moulin Rouge b/c I love it, "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds b/c I danced with my husband to that song for our wedding reception, "Always" by Atlantic Starr b/c I'm cheesey and want my life to be like that, any High School Musical song b/c I love them all (yes, I'm 16 at heart), "Stacy's Mom" b/c it reminds me of college, "Live Like You Were Dying" by Tim McGraw, and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" from the EFY cd. There would be more...but I should stop.

18. If you could meet any one person in history, who would it be, and why? I would really like to meet Joseph Smith (and Emma) and George Washington (and Martha). I also just re-watched The Testaments recently and I think it would be pretty awesome to be in the Americas when Jesus came and to meet him and hear his teachings in that context. I would prefer that over Jerusalem I think.

19. If you lost everything you have tomorrow, what three things would you save and why? My journal with my memories of Megan and Emily (the cute things they've said and whatnot) b/c otherwise I know I would forget those little things; Megan's blanket (she cannot sleep without it); my laptop (it has all my pictures on it)

20. What is your favorite quote and why? In General: "Don't worry, be happy."

21. Do you sleep with the closet door open or closed? Open. My husband actually took the doors off b/c they were the sliding ones and they drove him nuts.

22. What is your biggest pet peeve? When people smoke around children. It makes me so sad for their young, impressionable lungs.

23. Where are the top three places you'd like to travel to? Cancun, Chile, and Hawaii

24. Do you ever dance for no reason even though there’s no music playing? ALWAYS. There is always a song in my head and I'm always dancing to it. :)

25. What size is your bed? King. My husband and I cannot sleep on a queen b/c we cannot touch each other while sleeping. We discovered that right away after we got married. :)

26. What do you drink with dinner? Water, but my husband drinks milk. It's pretty funny.

27. What movies could you watch over and over and still love? 13 Going on 30, Win a Date with Tad Hamilton, all of the High School Musicals, Hairspray, Newsies, most Pixar movies... (once again...I think I'm 16 at heart...)

28. What was the first concert you went to? I think Anita Baker or Yanni, randomly enough (my dad got free concert tickets through his work). Favorite concert: Tim McGraw (or maybe the Backstreet Boys... ;) )

29. What is on your perfect pizza? Its a Papa Murphy's stuffed pizza with Canadian bacon, pepperoni, pineapple, and mushrooms with green peppers and roma tomatoes on top. It is the best. pizza. ever.

30. What's the most exotic place you've traveled to?I have never been anywhere exotic. But one of my favorite trips was to Havasu falls in Arizona. It was beautiful!

Basics

1. What is your age and physical description?
42, I'm short, blue eyed, dark blond/light brown hair, freckled (that sounds so much better than blotchy) complexion, not thin (that sounds so much better than overweight), usually smiling.

2. Where were you born and where are you now?
I was born in Missoula, MT and now live in Alabama. I've also lived in AZ, ID, UT, NH, and OR

3. What do you do for a living?
I am a full time, stay-at-home mom. Before I married I was the Registrar at Utah State University.

4. What is your favorite and least favorite color?
Favorite: Red
Least? I honestly don't have a color I don't like.

5. Did you go to college and get a degree, If so, where & what?
Yes. I got a BS from Utah State University and an MA from Montana State University (both in History - I studied American History, especially Black History).

6. How many children do you have? How old are they?
One - she is 2. We'd like to have a bigger family but I'm a little old for that (but not necessarily too old) so we're interested to see how our family will grow.

7. What’s your favorite and least favorite food?
I love Indian food and Thai food and Italian food.
I HATE, HATE, HATE all kinds of seafood/fish. YUCKO!

8. Are you right or left handed?
Right

9. Do you play any instruments?
None well but I took Violin and Piano lessons when I was a kid. I still play the piano a bit but the violin playing never made it past the painful scratching-sound phase.

10. What are your hobbies?
I love to cook, sew, crochet, blog, find ways to teach my daughter, support my husband in his art and music, and serve in the YW program.

Make You Think...

11. What did you want to be when you grew up?
Shirley Temple. If I was younger I would have wanted to win American Idol (but it didn't exist way back then).

12. What is your biggest fear?
Not living up to my divine mission/potential/worth.

13. Who has touched your life and influenced you the most and why?
"Most" is a huge word. Phil, my husband, has influenced me greatly. We are truly best friends and I've learned so much about faith and sacrifice and obedience from him. My mom has also been a huge influence on me. Both these people are always progressing, learning, becoming better and I think that is awesome.

14. If you could accomplish just one thing with your life, what would that be and why?
Live my life in a way that Heavenly Father is pleased with my contributions to His Kingdom. This includes being a good wife and mother as well as whatever else He has in store for me.

15. What is your worst habit and if you could quit it, would you?
Indulging my sweet tooth. Obviously I wouldn't because I could quit and I haven't.

16. Who would play you in the movie of your life? Who would play your husband?
I had no idea how to answer this and so I asked my husband and here is his answer:

17. What songs would make up the soundtrack of your life and why?
Currently the soundtrack of my life consists of lots of Primary music, Kids Stuff (by Voice Male - my husband's group), and Miss Melody's Sing Along. Why??? Because I have a two year old.

18. If you could meet any one person in history, who would it be, and why?
Jesus Christ - if I really only get one. I think the "why" is obvious. Aside from Him, I'd love to meet several Book of Mormon prophets, Abraham Lincoln, Susie King Taylor, Anna Julia Cooper, Charlotte Forten Grimke, Samuel Willard, Joan of Arc, Socrates, Zoroaster ... It isn't fair to ask a historian this question. These are all people I've studied and found fascinating and I'd love to really meet them and learn from them.

19. If you lost everything you have tomorrow, what three things would you save and why?
Computer - it has so much documentation on it.
Box of Historical Writings - I worked hard on those and I want to keep them.
Artwork - created by my husband because he worked hard on those and I want to keep them.

I'm sure I will think of a different list tomorrow though...

20. What is your favorite quote and why?
"In matters of preference, bend like the willow. In matters of principle, be firm as the oak." - attributed to Thomas Jefferson (although I haven't been able to verify that).
I just think this is good because so much of life is preference and we needn't get all fussy and rigid about it but when it comes to things that really are principle, we need to be willing to be uncompromising.

usually closed.

22. What is your biggest pet peeve?
Poor grammar, but I'm getting less peeved about that all the time (a toddler will do that for you).

23. Where are the top three places you'd like to travel to?
Greece, Israel, South Africa.

24. Do you ever dance for no reason even though there’s no music playing?
Definitely!

25. What size is your bed?
Queen.

26. What do you drink with dinner?
Water. Once in while we'll have "Kissing Juice" (which is generic Crystal Light with two flavors mixed making it tart and therefore creating a pucker - see, "kissing juice" - my dad made that name up).

27. What movies could you watch over and over and still love?
Most old time musicals, Princess Bride, Charade, One Fine Day.

28. What was the first concert you went to?
John Denver (don't think less of me)

29. What is on your perfect pizza?
It depends on the day. I love traditional pizzas like Hawaiian but I also like BBQ Chicken or Spinach Alfredo.

30. What's the most exotic place you've traveled to?
Probably Italy but Switzerland is a close second.

Basics
1. What is your age and physical description?
I am 31, 5'9", overweight and pregnant, have short brown hair, green eyes and smile a lot.

2. Where were you born and where are you now?
I was born in Logan, Utah. My family moved to California when I was 6. I grew up there and then moved back to Logan to go to college at USU. Now I live in Albuquerque, North New Mexico. I've lived here since July 2008. So far it has been great! Minus all the howling coyotes that roam the streets with turqoise bandanas tied around their necks.

3. What do you do for a living?

I used to make money by being an accountant. Now I work for free (and the rare hug or kiss from my toddler) staying home and keeping my family in line.

4. What is your favorite and least favorite color?

Favorite - purple or blue. Least favorite - beauty can be found in all colors!

5. Did you go to college and get a degree, If so, where & what?

I went to Utah State University in Logan, Utah. I got a BS in Finance and then a MAcc (Master of Accounting).

6. How many children do you have? How old are they?

I have one son that turned 2 in March. I am expecting another boy in July.

7. What’s your favorite and least favorite food?

I love sugar and have been trying to break that addiction for awhile. Most fruit is a close second. Actually, anything that I don't have to prepare in any way (including planning, shopping, cooking, cleaning up) tends to rank at the top. Least favorite - seafood.

8. Are you right or left handed?

Right handed.

9. Do you play any instruments?

Only if you count the radio. I did take violin for about 2 years when I was in college.

10. What are your hobbies?

Being outside, gardening, sewing, quilting, organizing, playing with my family.

Make You Think...

11. What did you want to be when you grew up?

I always wanted to be a mom. For awhile, I also wanted to be a marine biologist and an engineer.

12. What is your biggest fear?

I have two that I feel are equally the biggest - 1. losing my husband at this phase of life and 2. having my children grow up into bad, wicked people.

13. Who has touched your life and influenced you the most and why?

Hmm... definitely my parents (hello, they raised me) but definitely my husband. He loves me unconditionally, is the sweetest man and a great example of kindness and patience. He also has helped shape who I am today - we strive to be better together. He is the one that made it possible for me to be a mother (parents can't do that for us...). Motherhood has been a life changing experience!!! I've learned to depend upon the Lord more as well as more about myself because of motherhood.

14. If you could accomplish just one thing with your life, what would that be and why?

I would like to endure to the end faithfully. The gospel of Jesus Christ is the only way to find happiness in this life AND the next... To me enduring to the end means that I try to be better tomorrow than I have been today - and that I live as best I can to be a disciple of Christ.

15. What is your worst habit and if you could quit it, would you?

I have no bad habits. At least none I will admit to. If I did have any, I would try to quit it.

16. Who would play you in the movie of your life? Who would play your husband?

This is a hard question. Worse than interviewing for a job. My husband would probably be played by Hugh Jackman. They look a little similar (okay, stop analyzing the fam pic I posted at the beginning...) and Hugh Jackman is almost as hot as my husband. He's very versatile (he can sing, dance, fight off bad guys with his huge muscles, woo a woman with his charms) Plus I like Wolverine from X-men so Hugh Jackman is a shoe-in. For me... I don't know. Maybe Sandra Bullock because she seems pretty level-headed and practical. Or Reece Witherspoon because she is funny and laid back.

17. What songs would make up the soundtrack of your life and why?

I have a playlist on my blog. It is made up of whatever I like at the time.

18. If you could meet any one person in history, who would it be, and why?

Mary (mother of Jesus). She's got to have some great advice on how to raise young men.

19. If you lost everything you have tomorrow, what three things would you save and why?

I would save my family, my computer, and any cash I had laying/hidden around the house. My family is what really matters. Most of my important documents and pics are saved on my hard drive - so saving the computer would make life a little easier to rebuild. Cash - I'm gonna need something to help me fix dinner that night!!! Wendy's, anyone?

I don't really have one.

Water. Sometimes any flavor of crystal lite.

Miracle (I TOTALLY LOVE THIS), the new Pride and Prejudice, Emma, Cars, The Incredibles.

28. What was the first concert you went to?

The BFD (Big Freakin' Deal) hosted by Live 105. It was an all day concert that had 30+ bands on a few different stages. Some of the bigger bands were the Violent Femmes, Duran Duran, Elvis Costello. I wish I could find my old t-shirt and I could tell you them all. It was back in 1995!!!

29. What is on your perfect pizza?

Depends on my mood. I love greasy pepperoni and cheese. I also love ham/pineapple. I also love chicken, brocolli, alfredo (or BBQ) and feta cheese.

30. What's the most exotic place you've traveled to?

Venice, Italy. No, probably the small villages of Cinque Terre along the Italian Riveria.

Spotlight: Jen L (Finally!! :)

Basics

1. What is your age and physical description? I am 24, 5'9", medium brown hair, green eyes.

2. Where were you born and where are you now? I was born in Detroit, MI. I currently live in Ithaca, NY

3. What do you do for a living? I am in school until May, and then I'm back to being a full-time Mommy! I also teach piano lessons.

4. What is your favorite and least favorite color? Before I had a girl, I hated pink... however it's now my favorite! Least favorite is crayon purple.

5. Did you go to college and get a degree, If so, where & what? Yes... I've been to a couple... first started at Central Michigan University, then transfered to Lansing Community College (got an associates after 4 years of school :) ). I'm now at Tompkins Cortland Comm. College and I'll have a second associates. The plan was to transfer to SUNY Cortland in fall, but after much thought and prayer, I decided to decline my acceptance. I started as a vocal performance major, then went all over the place until this last time around decided on Childhood Education. That's my real love.

6. How many children do you have? How old are they? Margaret Marian is 2 1/2. Hopefully we'll have more kids soon...

7. What’s your favorite and least favorite food? Humm I love lots of foods!!! I'd have to say my favorite is a fresh peach with blueberry pie! My least favorite is salmon (or other fishy tasting fish)

9. Do you play any instruments? I was a voice and trumpet major for a while, and I play piano, violin, flute and.... accordian (I know, a bit random. My grandpa played the accordian and when he died I picked it up)

10. What are your hobbies? I love music! So I guess that is a hobby. Gardening, cooking, sewing, photography and uh, baby making? Ha. We've been trying to have number 2 for over a year, so it's probably called a hobby by now :)

Make You Think...

11. What did you want to be when you grew up? I went through a vet/marine biologist phase. I started High School wanting to be a chemist (I married one instead) and ended HS wanting to be an opera singer.

12. What is your biggest fear? Loosing Michael while we are still "young." I don't know how I'd handle it. Thankfully we've been sealed, but what happens if I want to get married again and have a family? I'd want my kids to be sealed to me... but I can only be sealed to one husband... Oh, the things that run through my mind. It's seriously a big fear for me on a temporal, emotional and spiritual level.

13. Who has touched your life and influenced you the most and why? My parents are wonderful and raised me well, but I think Michael has touched my life and influenced me the most. He is just so good and he is my role model for spiritual living. The Lord knew I needed a lot of help... and I'm so glad I am with Michael!

14. If you could accomplish just one thing with your life, what would that be and why? To raise a righteous family and all that entails (kids sealed in the temple, faithful to the end, etc)

15. What is your worst habit and if you could quit it, would you? Beating myself up.

16. Who would play you in the movie of your life? Who would play your husband? Humm, I think I'd like Julia Roberts to play me... just because. And Colin Firth would play Michael. Not only do I love him as Mr. Darcy, but he has a cleft chin like Michael and the same hair color :)

17. What songs would make up the soundtrack of your life and why? Oh goodness, I like so many songs. I'm a big country/broadway/classical/Mormon Tabernacle Choir fan :) As long as some songs from those categories are included (perhaps with a little Josh Groban, Elton John and Bon Jovi for some fun) I'd be happy.

18. If you could meet any one person in history, who would it be, and why? I don't really have anyone in particular that I'd want to meet. I figure, I can meet them all eventually anyway :) Though perhaps my great-grandma Margaret. She came from Scotland and I hear she was amazing!!!

19. If you lost everything you have tomorrow, what three things would you save and why? Pictures, journals and my scriptures (this is, of course, assuming my family is safe too). Sad thing is, my husband went through a house fire when he was a teenager and did lose everything, so this is something we talk about a lot. The one thing I miss the most are the pictures! There are very few pictures of him from when he was young... only what others have taken.

20. What is your favorite quote and why? Oooh, this is a hard one! I'm a quote freak! I love quotes! But just one of my favorites is from Ezra Taft Benson (I think he said it first): "When obedience ceases to be an irritant and becomes our quest, in that moment God will endow us with power.” I just really like it! It's something I try to always remember and live by.

21. Do you sleep with the closet door open or closed? Open. We have a long closet with 4 mirrored sliding doors... unfortunately 2 of the doors are in need of repair, so they are open showing off our closet disaster.

22. What is your biggest pet peeve? When people can't see past their trials and then drag you down in the mud... everytime you are with them. We all have bad days, but some people like to talk about themselves ALL the time and when I leave their presence, I just feel worse. I hate to say it, because I'd definitely listen if someone had need of help, but it's draining day after day.

23. Where are the top three places you'd like to travel to? Jerusalem, Disney World, and western Montana. Sort of an interesting mix, I guess. But Jerusalem just because I think it would be really neat to go there, and very different from what I'm used to here. Disney World, becaues I love DW! And western MT because we are big camping fans. My DH is from MT... but the Eastern side. I've never got to experience Glacier park or any of the beautiful scenary you see on calendars... just the flat east.

24. Do you ever dance for no reason even though there’s no music playing? No, I only dance when there is music, though I often dance for no reason. However, most of the time the music is created by either me or Margaret.

25. What size is your bed? We just inherited a queen! If only we had a queen when I was pregnant.

26. What do you drink with dinner? Water. I love water! Perhaps the occasional sip of juice, but I pretty much only drink water.

27. What movies could you watch over and over and still love? Pride and Prejudice (A&E), Sound of Music, Charly (ha ha), for a while I thought Mary Poppins was one of those movies for me... but after having a daughter in love with "poppits" the thought of watching the movie is not very exciting.

28. What was the first concert you went to? Oh brother... John Tesh. I was in 6th grade and went with my parents. I've only been to two other concerts... Barenaked Ladies and Josh Groban.

29. What is on your perfect pizza? Either ham and pineapple or a "Spinach, alfredo, chicken, tomato" pizza from Poppa John's.

30. What's the most exotic place you've traveled to? Probably the Mayan Ruins at Costa Maya, Mexico. Though my husband may have to travel to Saudi Arabia... I told him that if he goes, I'm going too! What an opportunity (albeit a scary one!)

Basics

1. What is your age and physical description?
Well I am 24 and currently have red hair, due to dye and hazel tired looking eyes. (those come from the kids in my life)I am average height and have a saggy belly from having a baby in October. Definitely need to work on getting rid of that!!

2. Where were you born and where are you now?
I was born in Pontiac, MI and currently I live in Provo, UT. I wish I was in MI! *tear*

3. What do you do for a living?
SAHM……I did work at a daycare before I had my second baby in oct.

4. What is your favorite and least favorite color?
Green is my favorite (Go MSU!) and I guess gray is my least favorite.

5. Did you go to college and get a degree, If so, where & what?
I am still in school. I went to MSU for a year and loved it. Now I am at UVU almost done with my associates in Early Childhood Education and planning to get a bachelors degree in Elementary Ed.

6. How many children do you have? How old are they?
Cedric who is 2 ½ and Katelyn who is 4 months

7. What’s your favorite and least favorite food?
Mashed potatoes…….they are my comfort food.

8. Are you right or left handed?
Right. Most normal people are. j/k

9. Do you play any instruments?
I played Clarinet until 10th grade.

10. What are your hobbies?
I love making little girl hairclips and bows!!

11. What did you want to be when you grew up?
A teacher…..I am still pretty much on track.

12. What is your biggest fear?
Losing one of my children! I don’t think I could bare it.

13. Who has touched your life and influenced you the most and why?
My Mom is the most influential. She is such a strong woman! I hope to be as spiritual and as strong as she is one day.

14. If you could accomplish just one thing with your life, what would that be and why?
I guess finishing school would be my big accomplishment. I hope I will get done sometime!

15. What is your worst habit and if you could quit it, would you?
Hmmm…biting my nails! I don’t think I would quit because what would I do if I was nervous?

16. Who would play you in the movie of your life? Who would play your husband?
Reese Witherspoon because she is cute and skinny and I wish I looked like her! For my husband Brad Pitt because Brad Pitt is hot! Except if Brad Pitt was playing him I would play myself. No need to elaborate on why!

17. What songs would make up the soundtrack of your life and why?
Girls just want to have fun- I don’t know because I like to have fun.

18. If you could meet any one person in history, who would it be, and why?
I would love to meet…..it is hard to choose one! Joseph Smith, Brigham Young, George Washington, I would love to sit down and ask many people from history questions and just chat about their experiences.

19. If you lost everything you have tomorrow, what three things would you save and why?
computer- for the pictures and files on it, My money- to re buy everything, my family- because I love them and would want them with me

20. What is your favorite quote and why?
“Forget yourself and go to work.” When I am serving others it truly makes me happy!!

Mine are lame! Michigan, Virginia, and Arizona because the people I love the most live in those areas!

KING we need to king size though! I like space and we have a 2 year old in it with us most of the time!

Jocelyn Christensen: Member Spotlight

Basics

What is your age and physical description?

I am 31 years old (4 foot 2, eyes of blue…)  Just kidding, I’m 5’8, and fairly athletic although I did just have three babies in that many years, so cut me a little slack!  I have blue eyes and various shades of light brown hair that as of late reaches to about my shoulders.  Where ever I go complete strangers think that they know me from… somewhere.  It’s always flattering.  I hope it means that I connect well with people, but perhaps it just means that I look like a lot of other people out there!!

Where were you born and where are you now?

I was born in Cleveland, Ohio and lived in the same house all of my growing up years, just down the street from Lake Erie.  I consider Washington, DC my second home.  I spent the best years of my career there and met and married my husband there.  Now we live in Lewisburg, PA (Just look at a map of PA and put your finger right in the center…that’s where we are!)

What do you do for a living?

I am a journalist by trade, a full-time stay-at-home mother for a living, a freelance writer for distraction and for fun.

What is your favorite and least favorite color?

I like jewel-tones (red, mauve, fuchsia, pinks)

Did you go to college and get a degree, If so, where & what?

I went to Miami University (where Laura Farkas and Wally Szczerbiak went and lots of other lovely people who I MISS terribly!  I miss gawking at Wally in the dining hall.)

I got two bachelor degrees…Mass Comm and Poli Sci

How many children do you have? How old are they?

I have three babies – ages 3 years, 20 months, and 3 months

What’s your favorite and least favorite food?

Don’t even ask me that question…I am trying to lose my baby-fat!

Are you right or left handed?

Right-handed, of course!  I am not creative enough to be a lefty!

Do you play any instruments?

 I play the trumpet.

What are your hobbies?

My biggest hobby has always been NETWORKING.  I love being connected to people.  “Make new friends, but keep the old,” really stuck with me ever since Girl Scouts.

Writing…always writing.

I LOVE Volleyball…and miss playing a lot, since I’ve been in baby-mode.

Make You Think...

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Lots of things and everything all at once.  i.e. a ballerina (wrong body-type), President of the United States (too complicated), a country singer (can’t sing that great!), a stay-at-home mother, a TV anchor, a CEO of some company…  Obviously I had to learn to prioritize these dreams, but the TV news biz and Mommying seem to be working out well so far!

What is your biggest fear?

I fear not listening to my heart…because I know what happens when I fail to do that.

Who has touched your life and influenced you the most and why?

My parents – They are brave, stalwart, and have a lot of integrity.

Quiet people who teach me about Christ through their every-day actions…it is very humbling to me.

If you could accomplish just one thing with your life, what would that be and why?

Raise a righteous generation of leaders who will follow the Lord, lift the burdens of others, and make the world a better place.  I want my family to turn out like the stripling warriors mentioned in the Book of Mormon.  Just thinking about the lies that Satan tells people makes my blood boil (don’t even get me started!), so I kind of make it my business to stand for truth and righteousness every chance I get.  It is my deep desire to do a good job of that during my lifetime.

What is your worst habit and if you could quit it, would you?

I truly wish I listened more and talked less!  I get really excited and want to TALK to people and share my crazy stories…but that tends to make me a bad listener at times, and I feel bad about that!  I really admire good listeners.  Yes, I want to change that about myself for sure!

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Who would play your husband?

Oh my gosh, that is a tough question…I have NO IDEA.  I have been told that I look like Jewel (that was a long time ago though!) and that chick from Every Day Italian.  I don’t know if they represent my in any way except looks though...and that's even a stretch!  Lance Armstrong would play my husband, because he’s totally in to biking – but my husband has less hair and a lot more admirable traits, I must say!  (Yes, I realize none of those people are actually actors!)

What songs would make up the soundtrack of your life and why?

Definitely a mixed tape with every genre of music.  

If you could meet any one person in history, who would it be, and why?

In history?  Well, I have actually met a lot of people through my jobs in TV who MADE history and LIVED history.  But I would really like to meet my great-great grandmother on my mother’s father’s side…Uh, I’m a bit stuck on her in my family history research.  And I grow more curious about her every day…

If you lost everything you have tomorrow, what three things would you save and why?

(We’re not counting Family and Scriptures and Journals are we???)

Other than that…I’d save…nope that’s all I’d save.

What is your favorite quote and why?

I don’t really have one…but I have from time to time had my favorite “magic words”  (i.e. toss him an ego bisquit, remember the tool of your trade, be strong) and I have lots of favorite movie quotes, such as "Nobody puts baby in a corner."  "Change your stars..." and "I quit, Mr. White"  (a prize if you know what movies I'm talking about!)

Closed…I don’t need that mess staring at me while I sleep, thank you!

What is your biggest pet peeve?

I don’t really have one…but snobbery makes me roll my eyes and infidelity makes me want to cry.

England (again), Brazil, the moon.

There is always music playing in my head…and there is always a reason to dance! J

Spin Doctors, Gin Blossoms, and Cracker – my older sister’s boyfriend took me at my mom’s request to keep me safe!

What's the most exotic place you've traveled to?

Exotic…nothing much to share in the travel department.  Although, there are some very “exotic” places within the US that very few people get to see.  I’m thinking of places I’ve been to while I worked in local and national news…a small scary town in Kentucky the morning after a stabbing, the living room of a beloved and famous gold-medal winning swimmer the day after she died (I got to hold her medals!), inside a White House press conference with President Clinton sitting shoulder-to-shoulder with my idols in the journalism world…and on and on.  These are some of my favorite “exotic” places I have been to!

New Sugar & Spice Feature: Spotlight Member

Its been awhile since we all did our introductory post and I'm ready to get to know you all better, so starting today we have a new Sugar & Spice feature... Spotlight Member.
