Ready to Discuss: Jodi Picoult "Change of Heart"

Any of you who have read a Jodi Picoult book know that she loves to add some twists and turns. I'd hate to ruin the book for anyone who hasn't read it, so I'm going to leave my thoughts in the comments. Just want you to be aware that there will be spoilers in the comments, so read at your own risk!

Okay- I *think* I enjoyed this book... my brain is still a mess trying to figure it all out!

Things I had a hard time with... all the different religious stuff. There were parts of the story that I totally skipped reading (ie- Michael discussing religion with Ian Fletcher. Totally uninteresting to me)

I also had an extremely hard time with the twist at the end involving Kurt. Part of me was so happy to find out that Shay hadn't been abusing Elizabeth. But then I have a very hard time with the thought of a father and police officer doing something like that. I know that there are bad cops. But seeing as my hubby is a police officer, I don't like thinking about that!! I like my little dream world where cops are heros and wonderful people... :D Let me enjoy my naive bliss!! :D

I know Stephanie already mentioned having a hard time with the Shay=Jesus Christ thing. Way weird...

Haha- that seems like a long list of things I didn't like. And when I try to think of things that I did like, its harder to explain.

I love the way she writes with all the different points of view. I know that can be confusing, but I enjoy seeing the storyline develop through so many characters.

I enjoyed the story written through Lucius's point of view... weird, since he was a murderer and homosexual- two things I don't agree with at all, but Picoult made him a very sympathetic character. I was sad when he died.

Oh- another thing I didn't like- the one reference to Mormons did not shed the greatest light on us... sad.

I also liked the storyline of Maggie. I'm glad she and the doctor ended up together. I kept wondering if Michael would end up being her love interest, but that seemed weird. So I'm glad the doctor ended up in the picture.
