Holiday Children's Books

I would like to place some holds on some great Thanksgiving and Christmas books at the library for my young ones. Do you have any favorites to share?

I have had this site bookmarked for a bit of time but figured what they hey, I would post a comment.

Definitely check out any books that feature the character Cordoroy. I have his Thanksgiving book & my son loves it! Very simple, quick read but cute story none the less.

Awesome blog~!

This is an wonderful Thanksgiving book...especially great to share with your little girls. It's called "Thank you, Sarah: The Woman Who Saved Thanksgiving" By Laurie Halse Anderson. http://www.amazon.com/Thank-You-Sarah-Woman-Thanksgiving/dp/0689847874

My fave Christmas book is "The Littlest Angel" by Charles Tazewell and Sergio Leone

My dad reads it to us every Christmas and we all cry before we finish the first page! http://www.amazon.com/Littlest-Angel-Charles-Tazewell/dp/B000ZYL62C/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1225730987&sr=1-4

"Twas the night Before Thanksgiving" is my favorite Thanksgiving book. It's very funny and was a hit with my students.

We love Snowmen at Night-it's really cute, and fun to read because it rhymes. It's not specifically Christmas-just Winter, but I just saw on Amazon that there's another one titled Snowmen at Christmas, so I'll have to get it!

I can't remember who wrote it but Claire has really been enjoying "Sophie and the New Baby" Claire calls it 'sophie and winter baby' (because they have to wait for winter for the baby to come). It has great pictures and is really good for a child with a new little sibling. I thought it would be too wordy for her, but she wanted me to read it to her at least twice a day if not more. We had to take it back to the library - but I may have to buy it if she keeps requesting it.
