Ok I thought it was really cheesy. It was still fun to see it though. I do wonder if I thought it was so cheesy because it was so late at night. I have been thinking about it though and now I want to reread the first book because maybe in reality the book is just cheesy and seeing the movie helped me realize that. I don't know.
As far as characters. I am disappointed with Edward and Bella. Neither are what I pictured. And what was up with the obviousness of the white makeup! It drove me nuts. I am a total Jacob fan and Jacob was nothing like I thought! I am very disappointed in the Jacob they chose.
I hated the scene when Edward goe in the sunlight! It wasn't at all what I pictured. So disappointing!
Overall I enjoyed the film. I went in with the mindset that it wouldn't be just like the book, and things would be missing, because you can't put a whole book in 2 hours! So this helped me to enjoy it.
Bella looked a lot like how I pictured her, but Edward did not. I wasn't a huge fan of him as Edward, but by the end he had grown on me some. Jacob. gross. I was always an Edward fan anyways, but his hair was just ridiculous. Could it look more fake?
As far as the other Cullens, I think Esme looked and acted the most like I pictured her, Carlisle was ok too. Jasper was just crazy looking.
So overall I enjoyed it, but yes there was a lot missing. I am looking forward to the next one because I am hoping they will have a bigger budget to make the special effects a little better.
I did really like the movie, I thought they followed the book well. I thought they nailed certain characters (Bella, Alice) and NOT other characters (mainly Edward and some of the other Cullens). There were definitely some elements missing for me, which is to be expected. Two hours just isn't enough time to build up the characters and the strong relationships, like the book does. I thought it was hard for the movie to portray the vampires' gifts. You didn't really hear much about their special gifts, but the things they DID portray, like their speed and sparkling skin, just looked kind of silly in the movie.
Overall though, I thought it was fun to see a book I love, come to life, and I'm looking forward to seeing it again!
I thought the movie was great!!!!! I personally loved the actor who played Edward and I think that he did a great job. The first time I saw it, I was trying to pay so much attention to see what they were actually going to put in the movie from the book. So, when I saw it a second time I was able to enjoy it even more because I already knew what they weren't able to put in. Personally I thought the running and the sparkling skin were just fine. They didn't bother me at all. I thought the whole Cullen family was GREAT!!!! I think that they fit their parts awesomely. At first I wasn't so sure about the actor they chose for Emmett because I just didn't think that he was big enough, but in the end I thought that personality wise he did a great job. Rosalie was definitely intimidating and I know that she would have scared the crap out of me especially with all those daggers she kept shooting at Bella. They portrayed Charlie fabulously and I thought that all the high school kids were great. I made my husband go and see it with me and he taught high school last year and he said that that is pretty much how they act :)
I didn't think that the white makeup was bad at all, I mean they are suppose to be VERY pale skinned. Something that wasn't in the book, but was in the movie that I thought was really cool was Victoria at the end. Boy did she looked ticked off and I think that it makes for a great insight as for what is to come in the future movies.
I liked the movie and saw it twice. It had just the right amount of cheesy lines to get me hooked. I went to the Thursday midnight showing with all the "fans" and we were all cracking up...even at times when I don't believe were supposed to be funny! I thought I was soooo like the book. I didn't expect it to compare to any of the GREAT movies, but I am sure it will become a cult classic...no pun intended. It was just a good fun escape from reality.
i LOVED Edward! Isn't it funny how we all picture things differently? I thought he was perfect! But I totally pictured Jacob and Carlisle differently. i agree with Jocelyn though. I cracked up at all the wrong parts at the Thursday showing because of all the awestruck teenagers swooning every time someone came onscreen.
