Book Club

Would anyone be interested in starting a Sugar and Spice book club? Maybe we could pick a book to read each month, then at the end of the month start discussing it... if you finish reading and want to discuss, great, if not that's great too. My thought is that it be a no pressure sort of thing. I just miss reading books and talking about them with people. Let me know if anyone would like to participate.

Sounds great to me too. How are we going to decide what book to read? Should we each take a turn suggesting one or something?

I think taking a turn suggesting one is a great idea. It will give us variety. What does everyone else think?

Claire, do you want to suggest one for February since you started this? :) i get most of my books from the library so as much notice as possible is always helpful from my end so I can order them and get them in time!

Are any of you familiar with the book "Kindred" by Octavia Butler... I remember reading it my sophomore year of high school and thinking "wow, finally a required reading that isn't crap!". I haven't re-read it but I want to... what do you all think? If we all plan to be done by the last day of February, that's when we can start our discussion. And mid-February, we can figure our what our next read will be.

If you girls aren't interested in reading that let me know and I'll find us something else!

Claire, since you're choosing for February, maybe you could make an official post announcing the book and suggest that everyone who plans to participate make a comment. That way when "book club" time comes around, everyone will know for sure that there are at least a few other people to discuss it with.

(I hope you won't consider me lame if I only participate on occasion, I hate to admit that I'm not much of a reader.)
