Not yet (she's only 2 1/2.) I think we'll do some kind of allowance, not sure how much yet, but our kids will do chores to earn their allowance. They'll be age appropriate of course, but I think it's important to teach kids the concept of earning money, and not just getting handouts. And as soon as they're old enough, they'll do babysitting jobs or cut grass, etc. to help earn their own spending money! Even if you are well off, I don't think you do your kids any favors by giving them everything!
I agree with Stephanie. I think "work" is an important skill and value. I also think money-management skills should be taught when kids are still young and not just when they head off to college. My 2 year old is intrigued by money and so we give her pennies and other coins once in a while. We made her a little piggy bank (out of an applesauce jar) and so we are beginning to teach her about saving. We're trying to decide when and how to introduce tithing. I think that is a vital element of money management.
