Getting together for less

With Money-Saving May in mind, I have been thinking about ways in which you can get together with friends and neighbors without spending too much. I like to have people over for dinner and will continue to do so, but it can get pricey. Here are some alternatives that are fun and allow you to get-to-know people better in your home.

Have your friends over for:

1. Family Home Evening (did this tonight, so fun)
2. Potluck dinner (and maybe choose a theme: all appetizers or Mexican or Italian...)
3. Dessert
4. Playdate
5. Book Club or other hobby

Can you add to my list??

Have friends over to watch your favorite show (Idol? Biggest Loser? Lost?) and tell them to bring their handiwork (crochet, knitting, cross stitch). It is a fun way to get together and still feel productive.

Sometimes for a girl's night out we do a craft night at someone's house where we catch up on scrapbooking or make cards or something together.

I like to have brunches with my friends to celebrate birthdays. Breakfast food is very inexpensive to make and so yummy! :)

Also, we have lots of board game nights b/c we love to play games together.
