London Britches Falling Down...

I'm having a pants issue with my almost 2 year old! Any jeans, corduroys, etc. fall right off her waist. Today she is even wearing size 18 mos. jeans. They are too short, but they still fall off her bum! I don't even want to think about what the next size is going to do! I know all brands are different, but we seem to have this problem across the board. I can't find any belts small enough to fit her, and I haven't found any pants with the adjustable waistbands, because I have heard of those. Anyone else have this problem? My daughter isn't even small for her age, she's in the 50th percentile for weight, so I have a hard time believing I'm the only one with this issue!

I know what you are going through, but not sure what to do. For Austin, he is real tall and skinny but in youth sizes they make most pants with the adjustable waistband and many brands offer pants in husky, regular and slim. We obviously go with the slim. I find it hard to believe they don't have adjustable waistbands in her size. I would just maybe google or search a little online to find which if any brands offer adjustable waistbands because they work for Austin. Oh the woes of having a small bum, it must be nice!! hee hee. Good Luck Steph!

I hope someone has some good ideas!! Cecelia has a pair of 3-6 month pants that she wears as capris and they are still loose around her waist!! I have tons of cute 18 month pants I want her to wear, but even those with adjustable waistbands just don't fit right. I keep thinking there has GOT to be a brand that offers slims, or even "long" 6-9 month sized pants would probably work for Cecelia... but I can't seem to find such a brand. I bet, if us S&S moms got together and started a company that offered such pants, we could make a killing!! You girls up for it?

I have to fold a lot of Cedric's pants so I know what you mean. Gap is where they usually sell the adjustable waist pants. Can she fit into any stretchy waist pants? You could try those they are usually made with a little smaller waist and might work. Otherwise maybe you can just get her lots and lots of play dresses. : ) j/k I hate when clothes don't fit!

I never knew there was an advantage to having a big butt. I guess I should feel grateful tonight.

Claire, good idea!! I don't sew, but y'all should go for it!

Steph, sorry for adding yet one more comment with no help on the subject, but I just wanted to tell you that your post title was hilarious. Very creative!

Do you remember in the late 90s when there were lots of big flowy dresses with those clips in the back to give you a waist. (Man I wanted one of those even though I didn't really have a figure for it)

You could try finding some of those at a thrift store or something. Or your own closet??

Oh yeah, and a more tacky, but maybe easier to do: pin the pants to the shirts. Or my husband says SUSPENDERS! (Only you would have to look hard for girly ones, unless you added ribbon or lace or something they might just look weird, and even then...)

Oooo...I actually did think of something that might be helpful. My toddler doesn't wear a whole lot of jeans because frankly it's hot here, but also my hubby always says that she should wear comfy, sporty stuff since she's moving like crazy all day. Anyway, I LOVE LOVE LOVE the yoga pants and yoga skorts from The Children's Place. They had a sale on their Fall line a couple of weeks ago and I tried them out for both my little ones. They are fitted and stretchy and my guess is that there would be no waist problem, although I think my girls have inherited my huge rear end. The fabric is soft and the colors are very cute!

just checked...yoga pants and yoga skorts are $5.99 right now at childrensplace.com

Linz... huge rear end? What on earth are you talking about? :D

Bauer's always had this problem, too! I found the adjustable waistband at Childrens Place for jeans and they've worked great!

we soooo have this problem at our house with our petite one!

If you look closely, you can also find adjustable waist pants at Target in the cherokee and osh kosh brands-you just have to look close.

I love the children's place yoga pants but they can still be a bit big in the waist sometimes, sew up the sides and it should work great though and then you can take it out when they get bigger!

I was thinking more about this a making belts is really easy too. If you are interested I could explain. A few years back my Mom and I made a bunch of belts.

Thanks for all the tips gals! One thing I have bought several of is the tight little leggings and bigger shirts. I think that look is so cute, and the leggings fit her great! I would like to have some jeans for her too, so hopefully I can find some of the adjustable waistbands. Oh, and DITTO on the "what the heck are you talking about with the big rear end Linz!!!"

I really like OshKosh pants. They are made a little slimmer than the rest we bought for Jaelyn. If you go to the outlet you can find some decent deals. Children's Place and Old Navy have the adjustable waists. I also came across some Wal-Mart ones and some at Gymboree. Good Luck.
