Snack Ideas
And I'm not asking for my toddler! I am about 9 1/2 weeks pregnant, and extremely sick. This is nothing new to me, it was the same way with my daughter. I'm really struggling this time around with ideas for things to eat though. I get even sicker when my stomach is empty, but NOTHING ever sounds appealing. I would prefer to eat healthy snacks since I gained a massive amount of weight with my daughter, but again...I do better when I eat protein and a little bit of fat. An apple just doesn't cut it. Anyway, once I throw up a certain thing about three times, I'm done. So I'm quickly running out of options. I also had to go on a gluten free diet a few months ago, which narrows the options too. I was curious if any of you had the same problem when you were pregant, or even if you didn't, if you have some good snack ideas that are filling, and have some protein. (Don't worry about giving me gluten-free options, I can filter those myself, and sometimes there are substitutions I can make!) Thanks!

I had really bad morning sickness with my son and would barf several times a day. I would eat apples with peanut butter. I also liked trail mix. French fries were the thing that really calmed my tummy and allowed me to keep other things down. I know french fries aren't healthy, but at least it was food!
French fries can be healthy-ish if you oven bake them at home. Yum. :)
Anyway, I love popcorn as a snack. It's one of my favorites. Our new favorite around here is celery with peanut butter and raisins.
I ate peanut butter and jelly sandwiches nonstop when I was pregnant. I also ate a lot of Cheez Its. Fruit is actually always my favorite snack and I was lucky enough to be pregnant in the summer so I could eat the good kinds.
I also ate a lot of nachos.
I guess that probably wasn't the best help...but good luck!
I can't wait for you to get through this trimester! First trimester are a time I would like to forget. It gives me the shivers just thinking about it.
How about cereal? There are so many varieties. If you need to stop eating it after three times, you could try a new flavor? Some are more filling than others. You could add banana or something else to mix it up.
:( I feel your pain!! I lived on Sonic lemon berry slushes the first 5 months of this pregnancy... I wish I had suggestions of snacks for you. I would say just eat whatever you can and worry about a healthy pregnancy diet once you are done being sick. Being sick and worrying about eating healthy is too much to deal with (for me anyway!) so when I'm in the first trimester I'm all about giving the belly what it wants. Then once I start feeling better I make a conscious effort to be healthier. Its making a difference... my weight gain this time around has been much, much, MUCH less than with Cecelia. Thank goodness.
I also ate cereal, a LOT, with my first, but because I was at work all day, I ate a lot of it dry. Dry wheat chex were my favorite. I also ate potato chips and lemonade or orange juice (something about the salty combined with the citris really helped my stomach). Yogurt and granola/oatmeal/cereal is healthy. String cheese. pretzles. Anything diped/slathered with peanut butter. Hard boiled eggs.
Those are some of the things I ate most while pregnant.
This is all making me very hungry...
I am the worst to ask advice for! All I ate when I was pregnant is Cheeseburgers, fries, and chocolate shakes! Just wanted to say Congratulations!
