Blenders and food processers

I don't own a blender or a food processer. I would like to be able to make smoothies, baby food, and vegetable purees (like in Jessica's Seinfeld's book, Deceptively Delicious). Would it be best for me to own both or could I do it all efficiently with just a blender? Any recommendations on specific brands of either of these?

Linz, that's why I got you that attachment for your kitchen aid, so that you could try some of those techniques....does it not work? oh no!

I think Jessica Seinfeld likes the Magic Bullet

I have an oster brand blender that I got at Target or something. It came with a small food processor/chopper. I don't think you need anything more than that. I haven't used a food processor and have been happy with my blender.

Something to look for if you are interested in making smoothies is a blender that can chop ice or frozen fruit. I have a CuisineArt blender that I like, but don't love. I do love my Magic Bullet. I got it at Costco for $50 and it came with tons of accessories. I also have a food processor. I use all three, but if you want to buy just one, the Magic Bullet is the most versatile. Its not quite as amazing as the infomercial makes it seem, but it is still a dang good appliance.

I have both but you can do just about anything with either one and do fine without both. Especially if your goal is smoothies and purees. Food processors really fill the gap with chopping and dicing for me-not puree.
