Oh. My. Goodness. I just finished reading "These is My Words". AWESOME recommendation Tiffany. I'm going to leave my thoughts in a comment, so as not to ruin it for anyone else!!
Wow. Just wow. This seems to happen everytime we pick a book club book. I'm not all that excited to read it, but I pick it up and just can't put it down. I had truly forgotten how much I love historical fiction. Growing up I was a HUGE Laura Ingalls fan, and this was like revisiting my childhood love, but in a grown up way!!
I'm surprised that I didn't cry a hundred times over while reading this book. Sarah lived an incredible life! So many trials, but I really admire her attitude through them all. I've recently been working hard on having a positive attitude during my trials, and this book was an excellent reminder of why I am doing that! Sarah grows into such a strong person.
Jimmy is SCUM. From the beginning I was pulling for Jack, so I'm glad they ended up together. Jack reminds me so, so, so much of my husband Scott... right down to the line of work! Scott is a police officer, rather than an army man, but he loves his job the way Jack loves the Army. Part of me wonders if Jack could have lived, had he not quit the Army. Though I understand why he quit...
I love the side story of Ernest and his wife... She drove me bonkers and I love how Sarah takes care of her!!! Too funny.
Ahh... I just loved this story! I have to return it to the library tomorrow, but I am seriously contemplating buying a copy of my own so I can read it over and over again. I'm sure I missed a lot because I was reading so quickly, needing to know what happened next!
Okay, I know it's been forever and that no one will probably ever read my comment, but I really loved this book, too! I really just have to second everything Claire and Tiffany said! I cried so much at the end, it was so sad! GREAT recommendation!!!
