Cheap Toy Storage

Right now I use our changing table for all of my sons toys. I am going to need the changing table again for little girl stuff and I am trying to figure out the best way to organize my toys. Oh and the cheapest way. Does anyone have any great ideas that doesn't cost to much? How are your children's toys organized? Also how do you decide whether or not to get rid of toys. Sometimes I think we have to many toys but I can't ever decide what I would get rid of! I would appreciate ideas!!

we got rid of a bunch of toys when we moved. it felt good and she never even noticed! Since most of our stuff is in storage, I figure when it all comes out again, it's going to be like Christmas! I may rotate toys in and out from now on so they're always fun and exciting! :)

I have some of those collapsable bins from Target (they fit in the cube storage) and we have a large laundry hamper full of toys as well. Those seemed to work well for us.

I have the same issue. I don't quite know how to store toys. I was thinking about getting a cube thing, 3x3 and putting in baskets or something, like Liz. I too rotate toys. It helps keep toy messes to a minimum.

Its not the cheapest alternative, but I got the Expedit bookshelf from Ikea, and turned it on its side (so instead of being two cubes across and four cubes high, its now two cubes high). I then got the Lekman plastic boxes that fit inside. I cannot believe how many toys I am able to store in just the four boxes we have. And to make it fit with the theme of Cecelia's bedroom, I put vinyl hibiscus flowers on each Lekman box. I know Target has a similar set up... but I love my Ikea one. Also, as a side note, we use the top of the bookshelf as our changing table. It works great.

As for getting rid of toys, not the best way to do it, but I get rid of ones that don't have sentimental value... to me! Haha, so I keep ones from Grandparents, special vacations, aunts & uncles. I tend to get rid of the little toys that get passed on to us by friends or that Cecelia randomly accquires.

I just redid our toy storage. One bin thing was getting crazy with all the little things. I bought the sterilite three drawer small tower. I put pictures of the thing that go in each one. One for bags, dress up hats, cars, bags, little people, barbies, etc. It's nice because we know where things are and my 4 year old enjoys sorting the things
