What is every one's favorite musical? I used to be a huge musical theatre buff when I was single (and had money to attend musicals/buy cds) but I've really fallen behind. Plus my tastes have changed. When we moved out here I gave away half of my cd collection and now I'm wanting to rebuild it with musicals that are a bit more clean and uplifting.
I'd say my favorites are Aida and Les Mis! Though I have a lot of close runner ups!

Wow- why do I embarrass myself- but- I was never into classic musicals or anything, but I love high school musical and high school musical 2! I know they probably don't even fall in this category, but we own both soundtracks and love them. My son and I dance and sing along to them all the time!
Hey, I just found your blog and LOVE it! Anyway, have you heard Wicked? It's AMAZING! I've seen it 5 or 6 times now -- very clean and uplifting and just plain fun!
It's not embarrassing Molly--HSM 1 and 2 are some of my favorites too!! But as for musical theater, I LOVE Wicked. It is my most favorite. Also, I love Joseph and Les Mis. Some of my favorite soundtracks to listen to though are the soda-pop musicals like Bye, Bye Birdie! and I also LOVE You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown. And I like The Music Man a lot too. And Annie Get Your Gun (the version with Burnadette Peters)
As far as movie musicals I love Newsies, Take me out to the ball game, and Singing in the rain. How to Succeed in Business is really funny too.(I was in that one in HS) I have seen Les Mis twice on broadway and loved it! I want to see Wicked. It is coming to Utah next April and I am hoping to possibly go!!
I LOVE musicals! In the theater, I have loved Phantom, Les Mis, Mama Mia, and Joseph. Last fall I saw Lion King and it was AMAZING!!!!
But I love The Sound of Music, The king and I, The Music Man, Hello Dolly, My Fair Lady, you name it! I really want to see Wicked-but don't read the book! :)
I do love Les Mis, but my favorites are The Secret Garden, Chess, and Into the Woods. If you've never seen/heard them, borrow the CDs or DVDs from your library--they're amazing! (Most people would probably like Secret Garden or Into the Woods best of the three.)
I'm a fan of you blog and couldn't resist mentioning some of my favorite musicals. I got involved with musical theater when I was a senior in high school and fell in love with it! I was in CATS a couple of years ago and that was just amazing! Some other favorites are: Wicked (terrific story AND awesome music!), Joseph and the ATDC, Singing in the Rain, Peter Pan, Jekle and Hyde (dark story, intense music), Sound of Music (of course!) My Fair Lady ... just to name a few!
