holiday treats

I'm looking for some new recipes for holiday treats. What are your favorite treats to make/eat?

I'm a big fan of cookies, but breads can be a nice change sometimes in December. I was always excited when my family got a loaf of lemon poppyseed or banana bread in the mail.

I like getting the bags of Nestle chips that are red and green or something special like that and putting them in rice krisipie treats or chocolate chip cookies. I'm a boring baker.

This sounds weird, but I used to love it when my Dad would get like a box of pears or something. Fruit and healthy stuff can be soooo refreshing when you've had so many baked goods.

Spiced Nuts
-(America’s Best Recipes)

1 egg white
1 tbs water
3 cups pecan halves, or almonds
½ cup sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
½ tsp salt
½ tsp ground nutmeg
½ tsp ground cloves

Beat egg white (at room temperature) and water at high speed of an electric
mixer until foamy. Add pecans, stirring to coat. Combine sugar and
remaining ingredients in a small bowl, and sprinkle over nuts; stir well.
Spread nuts in a single layer on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake at
350 degrees for 20 minutes, stirring twice. Let cool. Yield: about 3
cups.

Homemade truffles! allrecipes.com has several varieties, and I've found other recipes by typing "truffle recipes" into google. Once I get the recipe from my friends who handed them out for Christmas last year, I'll post it. They were so, so yummy!

I got the recipe! And its way easy.

Truffles

1 pkg cream cheese, room temp
1 pkg oreos, reserve 9 crush the rest
2- 8 oz pkg bakers chocolate

Combine crushed oreos and soft cream cheese. Roll into small balls. Melt bakers chocolate and coat balls in chocolate. Set on wax paper and allow to harden (or they can be placed in the fridge). If desired, crush remaining oreos and sprinkle on top of truffles. You could also coat in coconut, or drizzle melted white chocolate on top.
