Independence Day

What do you do to celebrate the
4th of July
now that you have kids?

Cool graphic!

This will be our first 4th of July. Last year I celebrated by buying a 4th of July outfit on clearance after the 4th of July by guessing my baby's size who was still in the womb. I had her try it on the other day...it's pretty snug but it fits!

Anyway, I LOVE going to fireworks and I'm hoping they don't scare her too much this year. I'll be with my family and we are going to a children's garden during the day and having a picnic dinner before the fireworks. When I was a kid, we would sometimes go on a bike ride during the day.

When my oldest was around one he was terrified of the fireworks, but he has gotten better over the years. Our city didn't do fireworks this year. What a big rip off. I was so bummed because I was really excited to have them watch it. If they had them, then we would have been able to see them from our front yard.

I guess I don't understand the question...isn't Independence day FOR kids? I think I took a hiatus from "celebrating" from when I left home, to when I had a kid! Sitting in the hot grass, getting eating by bugs is not my idea of a good time....but the kids seem to love it

Last year my baby was 6 months and scared to death, this year I don't know what we'll do because she goes to bed at 7pm! I'm not sure if I'm willing to deal with the crankiness of lack of sleep just for fireworks! :)

We go to fireworks any chance we get--usually the 4th and another big festival at the end of summer (Aquatennial, for you MN girls). My three year old absolutely loves them--and always has. The now one year old slept through both of them last summer, though, despite all the noise.
