Baby Registry
I'd like to get your thoughts on what to register for when you are a first-time mom. In your opinion, what are "must-haves" on a registry? What could you have done without on your registry? I want to help a friend out with her registry and I don't want to put just my opinions on her because I'm still a relatively inexperienced mom and I'm interested in what works for other people.

I think registries are the perfect time to register for ANYTHING you WANT! Especially the things you know you would never spend the money on yourself-like the wipes warmer, you know you'll never buy one, but you think it's cool and heck, why not! If it comes down to it, and you're still missing essentials before the baby comes, then you can turn in the wipes warmer for that essential bouncer. Of course register for the "essentials" and that term is loosely defined as what the parent thinks is essential (ie-we don't have a changing table) but from there on out, have fun with it!
I just helped a friend with this! I think registries are a great chance to try and get some bigger items, like the high chair, stroller, carseat, etc. Some items that I don't think are necessary are small toys and clothes. (Just my opinion, but it seems like you get TONS of that kind of stuff anyway.) Some specifics...I was glad I registered for things like my diaper bag and room decor. Stuff like that you just want to pick out yourself, and if someone gets you a random one, you might feel obligated to use it, even if it's not your taste. Some other random favorites: my travel high chair (we use it ALL THE TIME), boppy pillow, a playmat/gym thing to lay under, and a toy mirror!
I could probably go on forever, I love babies r us!!!
Steph--what's a travel high-chair??!! I think I need one of those!
Would anyone agree that blankets are not a necessity for registering? I received many from people who make them.
the only ones I registered for were the ones that matched the crib sheets so it would be cute-but yes, you get sooooo many blankets that it's unnecessary.
