Organizing baby clothes
My son has grown out of many of his clothes. Right now I just have them folded and stuffed into card board boxes. My plan is to get plastic tubs to keep everything in. I'm just not sure how to go about organizing all of the clothes. Should I have one box for newborn then 0-3, 3-6, 6-9 and so on? If I do that will I end up with 3 mo., 6 mo., etc, clothing in two boxes because if I have a 0-3 and 3-6 where do I put the exact 3 month clothing? I'm probably making this harder than it needs to be. How have you all stored baby clothes?

I put all mine in labeled plastic tubs like you mentioned. I have them in the ages you mentioned too: 0-3, 3-6, 6-9, and 6-12 (that's as far as we've gotten). If something was labeled 3 months, I found it was equivalent to the 0-3, so a 6 month was fitting between 3-6 month size. So they go in those bins. I always find things later and throw them into the easiest (usually top!) bin, so I'll have to go through it all again when I have another girl, but I figure I've at least made it easier this way!
I fill a plastic tub until it's full which usually means I have the same size range in a box, give or take. I use pretty big boxes so I don't always have enough of one particular size to fill a box. If you need a space saver, try under-the-bed boxes.
I am not to that stage yet, although my boy is starting to move into another size of clothing. I wonder if it would be more beneficial to store by weight/length? My baby is extra long and was fitting into the 6 month size when he was only 2 months. So I stopped looking at sizes and to the recommended weight/height on the labels. I figure that my future children will be different, and organizing by weight or length would be more helpful.
Just wanted to second what Liz&Meg said. 3 mos is the same as 0-3 mos and 6 mos. is the same as 3-6 mos. I still haven't figured out a good solution for storing clothes yet though. Good luck!
Okay, I'm on kid #2, so I'm semi-obsessive about this. I'm right with you guys on separating by sizes. I use white cardboard banker boxes to maximize space, and I absolutely limit myself to one box per size. We have very generous friends and family--we rarely buy the girls any clothes--so when I do the size shift I force myself to go through the smaller size and give away the stuff I never/rarely use. Because of my one box limit, we vacuum pack them when the kid has officially grown out of a size.
We like to use the "small" sized space bags. I do the same sorting with 0-3, 3-6, etc. clothes as everyone else. (After all, you'd hate to put 3 month old clothes in the 3-6 month box/bag only to pull it out and find that it's just a little too small.
Anyway, I like the space bags because I can easily see what's in each bag...and they're also easy to label.
I use bins. I too store according to size and like liz usually find some strays and they end up on top of a pile later on.
Skipper, can the space bags be reused? What size do you use (I think I've seen them as S,M,L...)?
I like the idea of vacuum packing, because I am quickly running out of room for bins. Thanks!
