I STILL use months and she's 20! But that's only with friends or people who know she's older than 18 months and in nursery but not two yet. But to people who don't know her, I say "a year and a half".
I used months all the way up to 23 1/2! Now that Bauer turned 2 we'll probably just do it in years (and halves) but up until then there are still developmental milestones that go by months.
I think I was more stuck on months when I only had one kid. Now they're "3 1/2 and 1 1/2." Considering I rarely even get their birthdates right anymore (in my defense, their birthdays are 5 days apart), I have to cut my losses! :)

I use months until their 2nd birthday.
