Hi Ladies,
I need your expertise in the sweetest, cheapest, "best deal" baby shopping department. Last month we found out that our little #2 is a girl. We are totally and completely thrilled, but I feel less prepared for this teeny little one than I did with our son, being that I have lots and lots of boy stuff, but little to no sweet girly stuff. Lately I've been searching for warm clothes for the arrival of our little bundle of joy and have yet to find even a basic onsie for less than $5-10. I know lots of you ladies are the mothers of girly girls, so I was hoping you'd be willing to share any hints or tips you might have. Like lots of you, we're working on a budget here, so the less expensive the better.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Just when I started to feel like an "expert" in this mothering thing, another exciting adventure enters our lives. I love it!

Congrats! Little girls are so fun! I don't know how you feel about garage sales, but we ended up finding a package of new onsies at a garage sale (4 for maybe $5) just because they wanted to get rid of them. For non-clothes items that are cheap I am such a fan of Target's dollar section - but it is pretty random. We also check out craig's list for toys (we haven't had a done of luck there, though). For clothes we also look at Children's Orchard (similar to Once upon a child it's just closer to us). Good luck!
I have had a lot of luck at Once Upon A Child if there's one there. I just got a bunch of stuff clearanced 75% at Target and Children's Place and I save a lot that way. Lastly, if you're in a family ward (probably not as successful in a student family ward though) put the word out. My ward is full of families who are just "finished" and eager to get rid of stuff or who are rich and can afford to buy new for each kid :)
I agree with what's been said. Whenever I go to oldnavy.com, I go straight to babygirls and click on Bargains. You can definitely find some basic stuff there for good prices. And Old Navy is one of my favorites cuteness-wise. Target randomly has packs of onesies on clearance.
I have gotten most of my baby's clothes from Craigslist for a great deal and 99% of the time they are not stained and in good condition. And I shop outlet malls...and Old Navy and Kohls. Have fun shopping!! :)
My apologies to stacibee for being way off topic, but I just wanted leave a comment!
I found S&S from Linz´s personal blog, and have been reading for quite a while. From discussions about Harry Potter to hair to homemade meals, I love it all!
So thanks girls:)
I too have to second craigslist. I don't have a girl yet, but it has been a great resource so far. Of course, here in the valley of the sun I doubt there are many winter/warm clothes.
I also always check out baby departments every where I go and buy sizes John has yet to fit into. I am set through about 18 month size that way, and haven't paid more than $3 per item.
I have found packs of onesies at Ross/TJ Maxx at a price of about 5 onesies for 5-7 dollars.
I found this website in a Parents Magazine and it has some good tips for finding deals on baby stuff.

Not a sure way to get clothes, but often times people will give away children's clothes on freecycle. Just go to freecycle.org and see if there is a list in your area. We LOVE free cycle!! We've gotten a lot of dresses and shoes for Margaret plus stawberry plants and anything else you could think of! Most of the time everything is in great condition, people just want to get rid of it.. and the best part, it's in your town and free!
Never heard of freecycle.org. Sweet, thanks Jen L.
Alis, comment more often--we'd love to hear your thoughts!
I'm a major clearance shopper! Buy ahead! Whenever it's the end of season, you can get good stuff for CHEAP. I basically have my daughter's entire wardrobe for next summer, and the average price I paid was about $3! And most of it was Baby Gap, Children's Place, and some Target!
