Date Night

What are some dates you've done at home that cost little or no money?

This sounds really dorky, but we bought our house 2 years ago and it was in great need of some decorating upgrades, so one of our favourite things to do is walk around Lowes or Home Depot and dream shop. We've "redone" our house time and time again walking through those stores. And I'm happy to say that we are slowly getting some of our dream projects done!

I just realized that you wanted home dates... mine doesn't quite qualify, though it is a fun, free date. When we do at home dates we are pretty routine, we just pop in a movie and make popcorn and virgin margaritas. We also love to play games like Risk or Phase 10... although Risk is no fun now that I taught Scott the trick to not losing right away! Its harder for me to win now!

We do the same thing-watch a movie we haven't in a while, play a game, stuff like that.

Movie and popcorn, of course, but one night Phil moved the television out on our deck then moved the futon mat out there and we snuggled on our deck while watching a movie. He burned the popcorn but it was still great fun, romantic, and a departure from the normal movie and popcorn.

This week for FHE we had a google scavenger hunt where I had made up a list of random questions and we googled to find the answers. Phil had his work laptop so we each had our own computer and it was a race, but it would have been fun doing it together too. We also found out some interesting things like the color of Hillary Clinton's eyes and Howard W. Hunter's middle name (William).

I know that this isn't in the house...but we love to go on hikes and have picnics. It's one of our favorite things. Sometimes we've been known to have a picnic on the floor of our living room if the weather is bad. :)

We LOVE to play games (the sweet German board games). But that's not necessarily the best date for us...because we're both pretty competitive. :)

I haven't done this but one of the girls in my ward blew up their air mattress and turned the couch over, then draped a sheet over it like a tent. Then they "camped out" in their living room. She even drew pictures of bugs and stuck them all over the floor and walls.

Also, my husband and I used to play each other at Word Racer all the time. You need to have two computers (I'd use the home one and he'd use his school laptop), but it's a free game on Yahoo! games that you can invite each other to play on using instant messenger. It was fun and we both got really good at it, especially him! Quite the blow since I'm supposed to be the English language guru of the house. :)

We play games with each other. Another thing my awesome hubby does is give me pedicures (okay, everything but the nail polish) with a foot spa he gave me one year for my birthday.

My husband and I enjoy reader's theatre. No, I'm just joking. I appreciate all of the creative ideas...we usually watch movies.

Maybe this only works with my husband since he's a little bit of a neat freak who loves organizing things, but if we have a free night at home, sometimes we'll go through an entire closet and re-organize it together. Sounds nerdy, but it is nice to have things organized and we usually find some funny things from the past.

My husband and I have also done the fort thing. It was way fun except I was way pregnant and snuck back into our bed halfway through the night.
