Some days I just feel like snacking. I try to resist the urge... but often I am unsuccessful. So in honor of the Biggest Loser health tips, here is my question to you: What snacks have you found that are both healthy and satisfying?
This is definitely a snack, and not necessarily a healthy one but as snacks go it is better than many: RICE KRISPY TREATS. If you make it without the butter it has zero fat in it. You can nuke a small bowl of marshmallows and then add your krispies, stir, and voila. Eat it straight from the bowl and you have a low-fat, munchy, sweet treat without much mess.
I like to cut cucumber into thick slices, then marinate the slices in seasoned rice vinegar and some water. I also love things like olives and pickles. Because they have such a strong flavour, I only need to eat a few to satisfy my craving for a snack, and they are low cal.
I am also a snacker. I LOVE fruit of all kinds...so that's always a good thing. I also like eating veggies (sometimes with dip, which ruins the healthiness of it...but it sure tastes good!)...with both of those things its nice to have them pre-washed/sliced and in the fridge b/c then its easier to munch when you get the munchies and not too much work. I also love cheese..probably not the healthiest snack..but not the worst either. It goes great with apples. I'm not lying..try it. :)
Popcorn is another great snack and good for you if you get the healthier kinds (i.e. not a lot of butter) and if you air pop it and make it with spray butter and some salt, that's a zero calorie snack that sure satisfies a craving!
I also like to eat yogurt (I really like it with raw oats and almonds...call me crazy, but its really good).
And then I can always go for a bowl of cereal. :)
Also, here's something not necessarily snack related that I've noticed: I grew up with butter on all my vegetables and super buttery popcorn and white rice and all that stuff that's not as good for you. Then I decided to eat healthier and give up the butter on my veggies and popcorn and switch to brown rice and the first time I tried it I was like, "Yuck...how could anyone ever like this?" But now, I love it and couldn't imagine eating it any other way. So..you've just got to give it some time and then it not only becomes bearable...it becomes what you love! :)
Smoothies are good. Just put Frozen fruit, yogurt, milk in a blender. I think its good. There are also lots of quick smoothie recipes online.
I love to eat fruit to and I eat more if I have it ready to eat. For example I just cut up my watermellon a minute ago so I can grab it quickly. Also with grapes I wash them and then put them in baggies so it is easy to grab. If you are a veggie fan you could do the same thing.
I love chips and salsa. I don't know how bad salsa is for you but you can get fairly healthy chips or use crackers or tortillas.
Salsa is actually really low cal... its the chips that make it not as healthy a snack. I LOVE hummus and I often make a batch of that and dip veggies in it. Depending on how you make it, hummus can have as little as 25 calories a serving! I'm a huge smoothie fan also.

fruit, string cheese, yogurt, I like the 100 calorie Kettle corn popcorn (you get lots of munchiness out of it for just 100 calories), fudgsicles
