Toddler Beds

We are getting ready to buy a toddler bed for my son. I just have a couple of questions. I know it is kind of silly it's not like beds have as many features as car seats or strollers but what features do you look for in a bed? What toddler beds do others have that they like? Where did you get your toddlers bed? What would you say is a good price? Also for those who have two kids when did you start training the first child to sleep in a bed? I still have until October but I am just trying to prepare ahead of time.

I didn't do a toddler bed. Personally I thought it was a waste of money so, I just moved them into a regular full or twin bed. I say both because my oldest first went into a full size bed and my 2nd and 3rd both went to twin size beds after the crib. I just put a safety rail on the side and I have never had a problem. Thankfully my kids never had a problem transitioning to a big bed from a crib, they just sort of did it.

We're putting my daughter in a twin bed this summer. I also don't feel the toddler bed is worth the money since she'll move to a twin later anyway. I'm due in August and we're hoping the summer is long enough for her to transition. We have rails for the side of the bed and we're going to put the boxspring on the floor so it's closer for her.

We're planning on moving Cecelia out of her crib by the end of the summer, but we are skipping the toddler bed stage. Cecelia is a bit of a bed snob, and really dislikes her crib mattress, but she loves our mattress, so we've got a nice twin bed for her. I'm going to put the bed on the floor, rather than on a frame and get a safety rail for the side.

I'm picturing your apartment and thinking that space wise, a toddler bed would be best, and while I can't give you any first hand advice, I would think that cheap and bare minimum would work just as well as anything else, especially since Cedric won't be sleeping in it for too, too long.

Yeah my apartment won't fit two babies well. We will probably move but still putting a cib and twin bed into a room seems like a lot of space taken up. I always thought I would go straight to a twin but space wise I don't think that is going to be possible.

We haven't reached this milestone yet, but I know when I was little, my parents didn't have much space either. So they just stuck my crib mattress on boxes of Christmas decorations. That way it wasn't too high, but it wasn't all the way on the floor, and there was no cost involved. We soon after moved into a house and then I got a twin.
