Baby Shower Games

I need your help, ladies. I did a few baby shower games in October, but am interested in some new ideas. I'll take all ideas, but I'll admit that I like things that are fun and creative yet SIMPLE. By simple I mean, not much preparation on my part. hee hee
Thanks in advance!

There's one that I've played a few times that I really like that's really easy. As everyone enters the baby shower they get a notecard and on it they're supposed to write their favorite "mommy moment." (and if they're not a mom, it can be a babysitting moment or something that their mom did for them) Then they turn their card back in and once everyone is done, the cards all get passed out to different people than the writer and you take turns reading them and everyone has to guess who wrote what. It's always pretty fun to hear everyone's moments. This game has always been a huge hit.

We played a game at my baby shower that was simple and easy and funny where everyone put a piece of paper on their heads and then had to draw a picture of a baby. Then everyone voted on the best picture. There are always some pretty funny ones that show up.

You could also do something like have everyone list as many songs that have the word "baby" in it that they can. I love music...so that one's pretty fun for me. :)

anyway, that's just a couple ideas.

Have you ever seen the one where you have to think of candy names to describe different parts of pregnancy/delivery? For example: Love Life before the baby=Good n Plenty, Love life after the baby=Zero. Or stomach after the delivery = Jelly Belly. That one is always a lot of fun. I think I have it somewhere, if you want to email me. Or you can find it online.

#1 The "price is right" game. Have some baby items on a table and everyone has to guess how much each item cost.

#2 Match the mommy animal name with the correct baby animal name. Example: Mommies are Cat, Dog, Goat and Kangaroo. Babies are Kitten, Puppy, Kid and Joey. (I had fun with this one and included Grasshopper! Does anyone know what a baby grasshopper is called?!)

#3 Candy bar advice. The guests get to choose a candy bar and they give advice to the Mom using the name of the candy.

#4 More "advice". This one is silly but fun. Each guest writes down a question that has to do with baby--anything, like "When should I give a baby tylenol?" or "how do I burp a baby", etc. Then, everyone passes their question to the right. Then, they put the answer to the question they asked on the new paper they were given. It can be pretty funny. I hope that made sense.

Do you remember Mad Libs? Well, you can take any nursery rhyme or kid's story and remove a word here and there and then pass out slips of paper that say "verb" "color" or whatever and the guests come up with the new words (not knowing what story they are going into) and then you read the new story. It is entertaining and simple.

If you like games where you get up and move, here is a funny one. You need some throw pillows, ribbon/yarn, and the game Twister. Each player had to tie a throw pillow on them (as a pregnant belly) and then play twister.

For non-physical, I always like the trivia games. Another one is reciting a portion of a nursery rhyme, and everyone has to figure out what the next line is. There are some really strange nursery rhymes out there!

Another idea is giving everyone a little ball of playdough, and they have to make a baby out of it. The mom-to-be chooses which one she likes best.

I love the candy bar one, Steph! The first time I saw that one was at my baby shower and I thought it was a riot. You can search for the list on google and it tells you which definitions go with which candy bars. At mine, it was a memory game and whoever got the match got the candy bar.

At a recent one, we played bingo where you filled in the boxes yourself (no prep for you!) with what you thought she might get and as she opened, you crossed off your squares. so everyone's card was different and it was super easy but everyone paid attention as she was opening.

I always like the one where you bring out a tray of baby items and give the people a minute to stare at the tray, then they have to write down as many things as they can remember. Then, you can give the mom to be the baby items. Another fun twist on that game is to ask the people to list what the person holding the tray was wearing or something random like that... its funny to see how many people pay attention to ALL the details, not just what's on the tray.

I also love the purse game, you have everyone hold their purse in their lap, then you list of items and the first person to pull it out of their purse wins. You could do "mom related" stuff... bandaids, tylenol, tide to go pen, etc.
