Would you go?

I just moved back to the state where I went to high school. I graduated ten years ago. I never thought I'd be faced with this dilemma since I lived all the way in Minnesota. But I'm here now and there's a ten year reunion coming up. I haven't been even tempted before this week but now I'm starting to feel guilty. I didn't enjoy high school. I survived it. I know I'm not the only one who feels this way (and I know I need to get over it-it's been ten years!) but I don't have a strong desire to rub shoulders with a bunch of people who I wasn't that close with. There will be a few friends there and definitely some people I wouldn't mind seeing but I'm just not that enthralled. It's made me curious. If you were in the area, would you go to yours?

ps-I already RSVP'ed so there's no turning back, I was just curious if my feelings are common.

I would. I'm interested to know how and what my classmates are doing.

I would go to mine...but I liked high school. I'm probably in the same boat as you in that I would only have a couple of really close friends that I would want to see...but I think it would be interesting to see what everyone else is up to. Maybe I would secretly hope that all the skinny cute snobs in high school turned fat...just kidding! (I'm really just kidding...I didn't have enemies in high school...I was too shy for that..) Also...maybe it would be a good missionary opportunity? I don't know. It is an interesting question.

I would definitely go. I loved high school it was so fun and i was involved in a lot of things. The only reason I am nervous to go to mine is b/c I am like 60 lbs heavier now then i was then. Well, i have a year to lose it. Once I get to 6 weeks postpardom(sp?) I better start moving :)

If it was convenient, I would go.

Otherwise, don't lose sleep over it. The great thing about being older and wiser is knowing that you don't have to impress people you knew over 10 years ago.

I'd also go. Mainly for the reasons mentioned, but also because I know people change. I think it'd be fun to see that change and to see what everyone is up to.

I wasn't real fond of high school, but I did have people i was friends with that I wanted to see. Most of those friends I hadn't seen since high school, so i went to my 5 year reunion.

To sum it up, I enjoyed myself. I talked to the people I talked to in high school and didn't talk to the ones who were snobs in high school. Overall, I left the reunion feeling better about myself..as bad as that may be.

right after I wrote my post, a dear friend from HS emailed me and said she was going because she saw my name on the list of "maybes" so yes, I'm going!

I would go too if it was convenient. My 5 year reunion was at a bar which was really disappointing to me. I guess it was the stage of life that most of my high school friends were in, but it just seemed so trashy. Luckily I was 9 months pregnant and out of state, so I had an excuse not to go. I want to go to the 10 year reunion if it's a little more classy than a bar. I think it would be fun to see what everyone is doing. Although, you can see all of that on facebook these days!

I didn't go to my 10 year reunion, and I was in town. It was also at a bar, and that's not where I wanted to be! It was also my son's 7th birthday, another good reason not to go. Hopefully the ones in the future will also be at better places!

I love catching up with old friends (hence my love of blogging and facebook!) so if I were able, I would go. Be sure to let us all know how it goes!!!
