Shower games

My sister and I are planning a bridal shower for my cousin. She is basically the youngest one in our family, and therefore the last to get married. We want to make sure her shower is really fun and unique, and don't want to play the same games that have been played at the rest of our showers. If you have played any games that were really fun, please share!

Is there a theme? Sometimes that is a great place to start with games. A few of my faves:
for a baby book shower, guess what lines go with which book (lines from a dr. seuss or eric carle or goodnight moon, etc.)

My fave game is coming up with names for the baby using only the letters from the mom and dad's names.

My fave baby shower ever (I have given a few), is the video scavenger hunt. Break into teams, each gets a video camera and you have to go around and video tape stuff.

Here is our outline:
K2 Short Film Scavenger Hunt

WATER BREAKING
Birthing Scenario-Find the most public place you can, and simulate your water breaking.. We suggest the cameraman being inconspicuous as to capture authentic reactions from the “extras” 25 points…extra 5 points if you incorporate real water.

SPECIAL DELIVERY
Find a UPS, FedEx, DHL, or Post Man and capture them saying: “Special Delivery” 10 points. 2 bonus points for each additional language that they can say “Special Delivery” in….or each additional delivery man.

GUESS THE GENDER
For every person you tape guessing the gender of your baby, you get 2 points.

LABOR TIPS
Find a man –has to be a male…to demonstrate lamaze breathing. 10 points. 2 bonus points for each tattoo that he has.

PREGNANCY CRAVINGS
Tape a scene about a pregnancy food craving. 5 points.

NAME
For every person you tape suggesting a name for your baby, you get 2 points. Cannot be the same people that guessed the gender.

BUN IN THE OVEN
Tape a bakery worker asking the expectant mother: “Got a bun in the oven?” 10 points.

For every word listed below that you capture on tape….2 points.
LABOR
PUSH
BREATHE
CENTIMETERS
DIALATED
BOY
GIRL
BABY
DIAPER
SEX
CONTRACTION

Any other scenes that strike your fancy while you are scavenging will be fairly judged for point values by a judging committee. Enjoy.

This is for a wedding shower? Or baby shower? One game I thought was fun for a wedding shower was to set out all the ingredients for making simple chocolate chip cookies and see how well the bride does. It's funny and fun to see what the cookies come up with with they are done. Everyone has fun watching.

The video scavenger idea is awesome. I'm trying to think of who I have left to throw showers for, so I can use it! I recently used the game Apples to Apples for a bridal shower game. For a shorter description of the game, I'm going to assume you're familiar with the real game...if you're not, let me know and I'll explain further. Anyway, I listed a bunch of common dating/engagement themes such as First Kiss, How he Proposed, First Date, etc. You can be as creative as you want. Then I went through and picked some of my favorite adjective cards from Apples to Apples that I thought would be either appropriate or funny for the themes I had picked. At the shower, you divide people into teams and give them 5 or so of the adjective cards. Then you hold up the theme cards and make the teams pick which of their cards they think best desribes the brides' first kiss, etc. She not only picks her favorite, but then she can tell a short story about the actual first kiss or first date. It's a great way for people to learn more about the groom, if they don't know him well.

We are throwing a bridal shower, but maybe I could change the video scavenger hunt to work for a bridal shower. The apples to apples idea is good too! For the chocolate chip cookies, do we actually bake the cookies, or do we just see how bad the cookie dough itself turns out? That sounds pretty funny.

Love the scavenger hunt. Awesome. My mom just told me that she recently played a bridal shower game where you were put in small groups, given like 12 different candy bars, and then you were asked to write a story about the bride and groom on a poster board using the candy bars as words.

Stephanie and Katie R. did one for me that was pretty funny. They had me sit on a chair and one of them stood behind me while the other announced different questions that they asked my fiance. For instance, "What color are Linz's eyes?" Behind me Stephanie held up a poster that said. What we really asked NTG: What color is the sky? My eyes are brown so everyone got to see my reaction when I was told that NTG's answer was blue. Do you get the idea? Kind of a funny joke to play on the bride-to-be.

Sorry--the cookie idea-you set out all the ingredients WITHOUT a recipe and let the bride guess the measurements of all the ingredients. It's funny! We did it in the kitchen and had chairs around the counter area. You also have her guess what to heat the oven on.

I am so lame...I TOTALLy missed the wedding cake and the BRIDAL shower....that's what I get for checking blogs at 6 am. LAME.

Bridal Shower: we did the question game, asking the groom, it was fun.

And you could EASILY adapt the video scavenger hunt...my mom did for my sis's 16th b-day

Stephanie, what were some other of the cards you made? I have never been to a Bridal Shower, much less thrown one, and my older sister is getting married and guess who is M.O.H and throwing her Bridal shower! The 23 yr old baby sis with no experience :(

She LOVES apples to apples, and I thought it would be a fun game to play. Help please!
