Teething

Just wondered what y'all have experienced in the teething department. Lots of fussiness? If so, any ways to help the babe out? Does it get better as they get more teeth? I'm not sure if my little one is still crying in her crib at this exact moment because we saw just the very beginning of an emerging first tooth today or if we'll see more signs of teething later.

We've had different experiences with each tooth. Her first six came in two weeks and suddenly they were there with little fussiness. Each progressive tooth has been fussier with a runny nose, diarrhea, mild fever sometimes. Right now we're getting our first four molars and that's not been fun. Laura told me about the Orajel swabs and those are great. I just give her one to suck on and she feels better. I've heard that it gets harder with more teeth because the molars and eye teeth are tough to come in.

I'm just learning this myself, so I don't really have advice from experience. But at the Dr's yesterday they gave me a few tips. They said along with the teething rings, you can wrap some ice cubes up in a washcloth and let them knaw on that. Also, Skyler sometimes likes just gumming on a wet washcloth, instead of the teething rings. I think the teething rings almost feel TOO cold sometimes. Let me know what tricks you learn, since you're experiencing this about a month before us!

We never really had too much trouble with the teething, only a bad day here and there, but I read about a few things that you can do. Obviously counter-pressure, rubbing her gums and seeing if that helps her (didn't help Bauer, but it helped my nephew), or putting ice water in a bottle and letting her gum that.
Also, Tylenol!

You let her suck on the orajel? I am not 100% sure, but I thought that you weren't suppose to do that. Again, I am not sure.

It's the Orajel swabs (like Q-tips), not the tube of Orajel.

It is still orajel and you could risk her tongue going numb and she could have a hard time swallowing.
