I know this is kind of weird, but maybe you all could humor me??? Does anyone here see numbers, letters, days of the week/months/years as colors? For example, when I think of the number 5 it is always red, it never changes. And when I'm recalling dates and phone numbers I see bands of color, not numbers.
I found out it's genetic and my mom does it too. It's called synthaesthesia and it's a real phenomenon when the senses in the brain are cross-wired...no really! Google it. I guess some people will smell numbers and hear letters too. The information I've read says that 1 out of 30 people have some kind of synthaesthesia
Just wondering.

No, I don't. However, I think that is very interesting. I have never heard of that before.
Same here...never heard of it but it sounds fascinating really. I have always thought that I have a bit of a photographic memory, just a small bit, but numbers are never like the same color for me. That's cool Skip. Do you find it cool or is it annoying?
I wouldn't call you crazy, but I have never heard of it. Very interesting...
Cool! Never heard of it, though.
It's not really that cool to me, probably just because I've always had it. The hardest thing about it is having to read signs that are multi-colored because the colors on the sign never match up with the letters on the sign...except STOP signs, since the word "stop" is always red.
I am like that too!!! But five for me is always rusty orange. No, really. My brother is like that, too. I can't believe they actually have a name for it!
The only difference for me is I don't just see the color, I see the number (or letter or whatever) colored in by the color. And it's never gotten to the point where it's hard to read multi-colored signs--so maybe I don't have it as strongly as you?
Okay, now that I read about it online I don't think I have it. I associate colors with numbers and letters in my head, but I don't physically see them in that color. Sorry!
is it related to color blindness in any way? I had a friend who couldn't read signs because her red color blindness was so bad!
Is is true that only boys can be color blind?
My brothers are color blind and so I learned that it is dominant in boys but runs through the maternal side like baldness (my maternal grandpa was color blind too) but the friend I mentioned was a girl and like I said, she had to get her teachers to not use red markers on the dry erase boards at school, it was that bad. and "learned" could be very loosely interpreted-it was a long time ago... :)
