Scrapbook storage

I have not scrapbooked since the night I started labor. I think part of why I don't get to it very often is because it seems like it takes a lot of time to get materials out, get organized, and get started. I have a large rubbermaid container with most of my supplies and some ziploc bags that separate stickers from scraps of paper and stuff like that. I have a small Rubbermaid for pens and scissors and last year I finally got a 12 x 12 box for 12 x 12 paper. I have it all tucked in a closet, and it's not accessible. Does anyone have any storage ideas that have worked for them?

I really like the "doing something permanent everyday" idea that was brought up in the housework post and scrapbooking is one of those things you can do, but pulling it out for a few minutes in a day just isn't working for me at this point.

I had this problem too. I picked up a scrapbook supply storage organizer, with a shoulder strap, at JoAnn's. It was originally $30, but I got it on clearance for $7! It has tons of different compartments to organize your stuff, but it's pretty lightweight. I keep my favorite supplies in it, and the stuff that I know I will be using (for instance baby stuff) and it's way easier to get out when I need it. You can also take it places, if you ever scrapbook with friends.

I got a craft table for my birthday last year that we set up in the den downstairs, if you can picture that, Linz. I keep the stuff I use regularly set up in bins and boxes on the table and the rest goes under the table. I do something similar to Steph in that i'll use a smaller 12x12 bin to keep the paper in the theme I'm currently working on handy and the rest put away.

I have a few permanant storage pieces from "Store 'n Style", but since having my baby I've found the easiest thing for me to do is keep a couple layouts at a time in an extra diaper bag that I got from the hospital. It's big enough to hold the 12 x 12 paper, as well as my trimmer.

I'll usually keep enough items for 4-5 layouts in the bag at one time: pictures, cardstock, glue dots, trimmer, scissors, patterned paper, and small embellishments. Whenever I'm done for the day I just throw everything into the bag and put it near the coat rack or next to my bedroom door. When I finish layouts I put them into albums and then put new products into the diaper bag. Maybe that might work for you?

Thanks you guys! I always have everything all together and I really like the thought of keeping things handy that are for use right away and stuff.

There is this lady in my sisters neighborhood that is a "speed scrapper" She says that she goes through her pictures and puts the ones that she wants on a layout and picks out the paper and embellishments, quotes, ect. and puts them all in the plastics and then when she goes to scrapbook it is all ready to go! She says she can get a ton done at one scrapbooking sitting. I thought this was a great idea.

Also, when there are a lot of pics, sometimes I think scrapbooking feels overwhelming. I've found it easier to buy photo holders that you can slide your pics in (you can find them that fit 12 4x6 pics-6 on each side)--scrapbook some special pages and then insert the pictures in the pockets for the rest. Then you don't have to spend a lot of time on one event, but can get it all done quicker. I hope some of this helps.
