Crazy huh? I just heard that too. I haven't actually read the recall, but from what I heard it sounded like it may have been some irresponsibility on the parents' parts, like putting them on counters and stuff, and then the babies fell over. But still, I will admit there were several times when I caught Skyler arching her back while sitting in it, and I was afraid she would fall out. I'm not sure that I'll actually get rid of mine, but I definitely won't leave her in it unsupervised (or off the floor.)
I love our Bumbo and I'll even admit to being irresponsible and putting her in it and it on the counter where she can watch me put my make up on in the morning (of course I'm standing right there). My husband always gets nervous because she does try to "stand" in it. So, I guess I'll keep it on the floor, but I don't think I'll get rid of it. The recall that I read said that if you contact them, they will just send you a label that says (in large print) that it is a falling hazard and shouldn't be off the floor or left unattended.
Linz, the way you wrote that, I pictured the bumbo coming to life and flinging itself over the baby's head...very funny.
Anyway, on the website there is nothing about a recall, but there is a safety section. Skull fractures were caused when babies were left unsupervised by there parents on high surfaces. So, don't worry about your bumbo causing a skull fracture, worry about YOU causing it!!!
