To Color or Not
I need your opinions/experiences. I haven't colored my hair since I got pregnant with Baby "I". I LOVE lightening my hair, but I despise the upkeep and the "roots" look. I'm feeling the need for something new with the change of seasons, but I'm nervous I'll regret it if I color it.
Do you color your hair? How often? Are you good at keeping up with the regrowth?

Color Color Color! It is the spice of life. Never worry about the future when you color your hair. Do what feels good to then. When roots start showing, cross the bridge then. I am soo sad that I don't live close to my sister who used to color and cut my hair all the time. Now I have long brown hair. Ick. So not me.
There is a very simple solution to upkeep of roots however. You can easily do it yourself pretty economically with a few products from Sally's. Email me and I'll give you the 411 on how to do it. It's called a mini-color and doesn't damage your hair as much as a full color.
You are funny! I should be all for color because I do hair, but seriously sometimes its just a big pain! And I Really think natural hair is soo pretty! I used to be white blonde and now im growing it out because it has gotten so fried and so hard to keep up. I hate fried hair! I think its just gross!I thought you looked really good with blonde, but the upkeep is super hard! Maybe you should just get a new cut first and then maybe you wont be itching to get it colored so bad.
I LOVE COLORING MY HAIR. It makes me feel so great. I too used to like highlighting my hair, but the roots and upkeep are annoying unless you can afford it. If I could afford it, I would get my hair done every 8 weeks. So, now I really like darkening my hair. I just love it really really dark brown. I think that dark hair is really beautiful. What is nice about me dying my hair dark brown is that I don't get noticable roots. My hair is brown to begin with so by the time it fades you can't really tell I have roots.
I have the exact same problem. I love highlighting my hair. I don't know what it is, but it makes me feel better about myself. It's like bringing sunshine to my appearance! hehe. But I too get sick of the upkeep, and the expense. I usually treat myself when I have the itch, and after a couple of times getting it highlighted I go back to my natural color for awhile. That way my checkbook and my hair both get a break.
I prefer 'au naturale' personally. I think natural, healthy hair is really pretty. Plus, I am always for hassle-free 'dos. (Guess that's why I tend to sport the ponytail.) Maybe if I had lighter hair then I would be more willing to color it, but I think my hair would look odd highlighted since it is so dark. I tried the reddish highlights once and wasn't a fan. And once I made the horrible decision to go for blonde highlights - yes, I looked like a human zebra!
I'm with Katie. I tried highlights once and didn't like it. I have dark brown hair and people are always complimenting my "new color" so it must be a good brown! :)
I can't live without highlights..I feel so much cuter with lighter hair. The color of my hair is like this yucky mousey brown color. I have them put this lighter blonde and darker blonde--so highlights aren't needed as often. This is just one of those things I couldn't do without! Plus--I know a really great beautician you could use, too :)
