Bumbo?

The other day my mom asked me about a bumbo. She was thinking about getting one for Reagan. Does anyone know anything about these seats? Are they worth it? What do you use them for (besides sitting of course)? Can our babies play while in them or are they more for sitting to watch Baby Einstein? Did I mention that this blog idea was great, Linz?! You are all so helpful!

I always thought that they were really weird, but I have a friend who loves hers. I think she liked it because it gave her baby a little more independence before she was able to sit on her own.

We got one as a gift..they can start sitting in it as soon as they can hold their head up...little V did not like it (we started her in it around 2 months). We've put her in it to start eating rice cereal but that is just because we haven't gotten around to getting a highchair yet. I think Reagan is probably getting too old for it. She'll be sitting up on her own really soon. I think it's most beneficial to 2-4 month olds. A teacher I worked with last year absolutely loved it. Like I said, it's been of little use to us but that could be her personality. If you want to try one out for cheaper, I noticed that they had some at Once Upon a Child the other day. Do they have those stores in Michigan? They are like secondhand stores for everything baby.

What's up with Grandmas wanting to get their grandkids bumbos???? My mother-in-law decided Skyler had to have one, so we got one a few weeks ago. We do really like it, but Linds is right, they're really only helpful until they are sitting up on their own. It's nice that you don't have to worry about them falling back and conking their heads while they're learning to sit, but Skyler tends to get bored after 5-10 min. She starts arching her back to get out! I kind of think they're overpriced too. They're $40!

My sister-in-law gave me one. It's alright. Lei'la likes it for a few minutes, but she then she arches her back and almost gets herself out of it. I guess if anything it gives a break from laying down or being in the swing or entertainer.
