Ditching Post-Pregnancy Pounds

How did you lose that unwanted weight after giving birth to your sweet lil' bambino? What's the key been to your success? Is it possible to ever get rid of that lovely "baby bump" on your lower belly? I've heard it only gets more difficult to lose the weight with each child...eeck!!

Now that Baby "I" is almost 1 year old (which is completely out of control!) JK and I are starting to discuss the thought of having #2. I'd like to be at my body's very best before I attempt pregnancy again...so share your thoughts and experiences.

Well, my suggestion would be to join a Curves if you have one in your area. It's a quick workout, only 30 minutes, and all the machines are hydrolic so you don't have to worry about guessing what weight you should be using. I'm not a big fan of exercising and especially weight-lifting but I really love Curves.
Plus, if it's at all possible, get a friend to come with you, it'll make it even better!

I'm still working on it too! I have a rough time! I too want to be at my best before I get prego again. Kinda frusterating isn't it!

I'm just starting to try to lose the baby weight (my twins are a month old). I agree with aubreydoll that one of the best things you can do is have a friend to exercise and lose weight with - the support helps, and having someone you're accountable to keeps you on track. My husband and I are doing a weight loss competition with our parents. It's a couples competition, and whoever loses the least each month has to put money into the pot that the winners at the end get to keep. I'll let you know how it turns out! No matter how much weight I lose though, I can't imagine my "baby pouch" will ever go away:( Just another sacrifice of being a mon I guess.

Well, I am the wrong person to ask this question. I gained a TON with my first pregnancy and never lost it. which is my own fault. But then I gained more with each pregnancy. I am finally putting myself in check and trying to lose the weight. I do not want to have another fat pregnancy. When I get pregnant with baby #4 I want to look good!!! I want to be a cute preggo person and of course be healthy:) So, my parents, myself and a friend of mine have all joined weight watchers. It actually is not that bad and I have almost lost 15 pounds. Of course another incentive for me to lose weight is my hubby's 10 yr reunion. I want them to see his HOT wife not is BLAH wife. Any way, weight watchers has been working for me and of course adding excercise will only make it better. (I hope)

Yesterday Yahoo had an article advertised on their front page of 100 diet tips. Did anyone see that? I actually copied it into a word document--nothing new, but seeing it all together gave me some really good reminders. Bob Harper talked about this exact topic on the Ellen show and I'm trying to remember what he said exactly but I do remember he said that cardio should come before like crunches.

Sorry, I wrote a book here. You guys just keep picking subjects that I love to talk about!

In my life I've noticed that there's no way around it: in order to look and feel my best, I have to exercise at least three times a week. It doesn't matter what I eat or how much I diet, nothing works like exercise.

Before I got married I never exercised. When I met my husband I was always tired and lacking energy and I often felt moody or depressed. Not to mention my body had a consistency similar to a fluffy marshmallow. Luckily for me, my husband is a really active person and he made me get into shape. I started taking a kickboxing class and that got me over the exercise hump (you know, that feeling you get like you're gonna DIE if you do one more second) and suddenly I found myself CRAVING exercise if I went more than two days without it. Not only that, but my energy level went through the roof and my feelings of depression were virtually nonexistent. And I looked better than ever, too.

Once I was converted to exercising it was easy to maintain it throughout my pregnancy and after I had Collin I just couldn't wait to go back. I had a c-section, so I couldn't go for 6 weeks (during which my feelings of fatigue and moodiness came back--that was rough), but once I started running again I found my last 10-12 pounds of baby fat melted off and within a week I was at my prepregnancy weight. It was amazing, and I know that it was all because of exercising.

For those of you who are not converted to exercise yet, I would like to bear my exercise testimony. ;) It doesn't matter what you do, as long as you do it consistently and make it a challenge for you. For example, don't feel like you have to run if you hate running. There are a lot of ways to exercise and work it into your schedule. You just have to choose a way and keep doing it. I promise that if you do you'll not only notice the change in your physical appearance but you'll feel like a million bucks, too. And I say these things in the name of Billy Blanks, Oh man.

That was great, tagteam03! I needed your reminders of how good I felt, back in the day before I stopped exercising. When my first started walking, I just couldn't figure out how to exercise consistently. When it was nice out, I could pop the girls in the stroller and go walking the trails around here for a couple hours and they got great naps--it was a win-win situation! In the winter, though, it's more challenging for me. I try to dance with them for at least 10-15 minutes a day. We all love it, and it's easy to work into the day (just a song here and there to start out).

Tagteam03, your "testimony" has inspired me to get myself moving today! Thank you--that was awesome.

I realize this is about post-pregnancy, but I just wanted to share my experience that I exercised all through the last two trimesters (first trimester I was barely eating and had zippo energy). I jogged and went on the elliptical machine almost everyday. It was essential to me feeling good (I was experiencing a lot of heartburn and such) physically, and mentally. I was back to pre-pregnancy weight within the first week after labor. I realize circumstances don't always allow for exercise in pregnancy, but this really worked for me.
